WYCP works with carers from the age of eight years upwards and aims to help improve the lives of young carers across Warwickshire. The Project supports young carers in their roles, and gives them an opportunity to relax and take a break and help them to realise their own dreams.ADVERT The day was facilitated with the help of the Shakespeare Lions Club – a local branch of the Lions International humanitarian organisation. “These young people are an example to us all”, said Jen Clements, Stratford Boat Club’s Captain.”We are most grateful to Shakespeare Lions and to Faye Stephens, Warwickshire Young Carers’ Project Worker, for giving us a chance to spend a morning with these inspirational youngsters.” As well as practicing balance, core stability and endurance on indoor rowing machines, the young carers were taken onto river in Stratford Boat Club’s new training quadruple and double sculls – under the watchful tuition of some of Stratford Boat Club’s coaches and volunteers. “The groups soon got the ideas and skills behind rowing and especially enjoyed their time on the water”, said Paul Hazelwood, Stratford Boat Club’s Safety Advisor. “They enjoyed having fun in a structured way and learning a new skill and the Club certainly enjoyed our morning.” Find out more about rowing at Stratford upon Avon Boat Club by visiting www.stratford-rowing.co.uk.
