Reading Rowing Club invites you on board

At the end of July Reading Rowing Club is launching ‘Row for Gold: The Reading Rowing Challenge’, giving everyone the opportunity to emulate Team GB’s Olympic performance by training for four weeks and then competing for Gold against other crews on the Reading stretch of the Thames.

Our top GB stars will race over 2k on the water at the Olympic Games in a couple of weeks, this is the public’s chance to get taste of what it’s like to compete over 500m, side by side against other crews.

Anyone 18 years of age or older and of any ability can register for the event at http://www.readingrc.com/row-for-gold and receive expert training advice on how to row.

The challenge is simple.  Participants will be allocated an evening training slot once a week for four weeks during August and on 1st September crews will race over 500m with every crew guaranteed to have at least two races.  Reading RC promise a great family day out with food and drink and picnic opportunities.

Whether you’re a frequent user of the rowing machine at the gym, or up for trying something completely new, this is chance for anyone to try out the real thing. Rowing is an enjoyable sport and a great way to meet new people and to keep fit.

Either enter a crew of four friends, colleagues or family members; or you can enter individually and we will try and allocate a crew.

You never know – this event could throw up future Olympians for the next Games in Rio 2016 – or it could be the Berkshire’s chance to renew their New Year get-fit plans that may have slipped by the summer.

Register now at http://www.readingrc.com/row-for-gold.

Entries must be received by 1st August; the event is limited to 16 crews of 4 people and will cost only £25 per person – medals for the winning crew.
