Bewdley Regatta cancelled

Bad weather and a fallen tree have forced organisers of the Bewdley Regatta to cancel the 2012 event – due to be held this weekend (21/22 July).

For the past week river levels have been closely monitored, and daily assessments have been made to judge the river’s suitability for racing.

Unfortunately, the regatta’s organisers are not sufficiently confident that the water levels on the River Severn will drop enough for the contest to go ahead.

The speed of the river – together with a waterlogged campsite and a large tree stuck in the water some 50 below the start line – has forced the cancellation of the event, and all entry fees will be fully refunded.
