Wallingford girls selected for GB v France

Wallingford Rowing Club’s J16 girls’ quad claimed their place at the 2012 GB v France Match, with a victory at the Selection Trials in Nottingham on Sunday (24th June).

The Wallingford crew – consisting of Hannah Whelan, Freya Dale, Leanne Reeves, and Alice Walker – won the J16 girls’ trial by four seconds, with strong winds at the National Water Sports Centre forcing organisers to run the selection event as a time trial.

The girls will now race in GB Rowing Team colours in Gravelines, France, on Sunday 15th July 2012 – a full list of GB crews will be posted on the GB Rowing Team page ahead of the event.

This latest selection follows a success-laden season for the Wallingford rowers, who took gold – and in a record time – at the National Schools Regatta and National Junior Sculling Head, as well as claiming the Nina Padwick Trophy at Henley Women’s Regatta.

Wallingford’s attention now shifts to Henley Royal Regatta, where their Coxless Four crew will be competing in The Wyfold Challenge Cup.
