Lincolnshire youngsters inspired to row with Sportivate

Thousands of young people in Lincolnshire have been inspired to take up sport with Sport England’s Sportivate initiative.

The Olympic and Paralympic legacy programme is aimed at 14-25 year olds, offering them an opportunity to take part in a new sport for free.

More than 1500 teenagers and young adults in Linconshire have taken part in the Sportivate so far including 18-year-old Jacob Mellaney, a University of Lincoln student who wanted to have a go at rowing.

“The Learn to Row course has been great, and something I really enjoyed,” he said. “I have continued with the sport and have raced competitively and won already!”

Sportivate is being delivered across the country by a network of county sports partnerships. To find out more about Sportivate in your area, visit www.sportengland.org
