Mars offers £1000 sports awards

Confectionary giant Mars has launched its Refuel Drink Fund – encouraging people to get back into sport and to play their favourite sport for longer.

From today (Monday 2nd April), people involved in sport can apply for prizes of up to £1000 by visiting www.marsrefuel.com and selecting ‘submit your entry’.

The Fund will offer one gold (£1000), four silver (£500), and eight bronze (£250) awards every month for six months.

The ‘most deserving applicants’ will receive the award, which can be spent on anything from equipment and travel costs, to improving club facilities and boathouses.

York University rower William Robinson (pictured above) won a £500 award from the fund in 2011, and has ambitions to take part in the Henley Royal Regatta and GB Trials.

“I will be using the donation from the MARS Refuel Drink Fund to purchase my own Single Scull boat to train and race in,” Robinson said after receiving the award in June last year. “Being a student I have not had the funds to buy a new boat, so a massive thank you goes out to MARS Refuel!”
