Last call for Inspired Facilities funding

The second round of Inspired Facilities – Sport England’s fund to refurbish and upgrade community sports facilities – closes at 5pm on Monday (April 2nd).

Inspired Facilities is part of ‘Places People Play’, the £135m Sport England legacy project that aims to bring the magic of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games to communities across the UK.

Flushing and Mylor Gig Club and Bedford RC are among the rowing clubs to have benefited from the Inspired Facilities fund in recent months, receiving £46,816 and £32,322 respectively.

‘For hundreds of clubs and tens of thousands of people, 2012 will be the year their local sports facilities got better,’ said Sport England Chair Richard Lewis.

‘We’ve had unprecedented demand for this fund, which has really hit the mark with sports clubs. It shows we’re offering the sporting legacy that people want.’

Clubs interested in applying for Inspired Facilities funding have until 5pm Monday to submit and application.
