Record-breaking Indoor Rowing in Plymouth

More than 430 schoolchildren took part in the Plymouth Schools Indoor Rowing Championships (PSIRC) on Wednesday 8th Februrary, smashing a number of records at University College Marjon, Plymouth.

Participants from schools across the region took part in the British Rowing-supported PSIRC, which is now in its seventh year.

Records were smashed in three of the girls’ events (Years 7, 9, and 11), and one of the boys’ (Year 12 & 13), with Plymstock and Wembury Schools winning the fiercely-contested team events.

‘Everything went according to plan,’ organiser Kevin Seller told www.thisisplymouth.co.uk.

We had more schools taking part than ever before. It is getting that large that next year we might have to go into the evening!’

This year’s event took over seven hours to complete, with 70 more pupils taking part compared with the 2011 PSIRC.
