New Div Rep for East Midlands

[newsimage=0]Tim Walton has been elected as the new Div Rep for the East Midlands region, joining the existing Div Reps, appointed, elected, and co-opted members on the British Rowing council.

Tim is a multilane umpire who started rowing at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in 1969, before joining Leicester Rowing Club.

After retiring from competitive rowing he became an umpire in 1994 – taking a short break in 2003-4 to command the first Specialist Team Royal Engineers (Volunteers) ever to go on operations, in Iraq.

As past Chairman of the East Midlands Regional Umpires Commission, Tim enjoys mentoring prospective umpires and is also Race Committee Chairman for a number of regattas in the region.

He is Chairman of the Rules of Racing Sub Committee and enjoys the challenges that the precise wording of the Rules present.

Tim was part of the Control Commission Team for the World Rowing Junior Championships at Dorney Lake in 2011 and has been selected to be part of the same team for the London 2012 Olympic regatta this year.
