Nottingham rowers shine in Barcelona

A quartet of rowers from Nottingham Rowing Club claimed a memorable victory on Sunday 20 November, winning the Women’s Quad race at the 16th Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona de Rem.

The NRC High Performance crew – consisting of Yasmin Marks, Ellie Whittle, Philly Whittle, and Nikki Spencer – beat five other boats in the event, which took the format of at 650m sprint regatta.

After qualifying first from their heat the NRC quad led from the start in the final, crossing the finish line half a length clear of the second-placed boat.

The annual Trofeu Internacional Ciutat de Barcelona de Remnis organised by Reial Club Maritim – one of Spain’s oldest rowing clubs – in conjunction with the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and Federació Catalana de Rem, and offers men’s eight and women’s quad crews the opportunity to race in Barcelona’s historic port.
