Exeter RC top dogs in Totnes

Exeter Rowing Club’s Marcus Bowyer was the toast of Totnes at the weekend, winning two of the three divisions at Saturday’s Totnes Autumn Head.

[newsimage=0]The 18-year-old – who has represented Great Britain at the World Rowing Junior Championships for the last two years – first powered his way to victory in the Single Scull in Division One, covering the 3000m course on the River Dart in 10 minutes and nine seconds.

Plymouth’s Men’s J18 Coxed Quad finished five seconds back in second place, with local favourite Elliot Barton – a GB Rowing Team Lightweight – taking the last of the podium places.

Bowyer then made it two from two in the Exeter Coxed Four in Division Three, producing an immaculate performance alongside Dan Rowse, Tom Yoad, and Dan Wilmington.

The four finished an emphatic race 38 seconds clear of the second-placed Dart Totnes crew, and a further five seconds clear of the Royal Navy.

In Division Two, Gloucester’s Coxless Four cruised to a comfortable victory, as Dart Totnes were once again forced into second place.

Exeter, meanwhile, rounded off an impressive weekend on the Dart by posting the fastest time of the day in the Ladies’.

The Exeter Senior B Coxed Four of Hana Lango-Allen, Lisa Cocks, Kim Peters, Rebecca Eastman and cox Megan Gooding covered the course in 11 minutes and 18 seconds – the 12th fastest time of the day.
