Barn Elms celebrates new Explore Rowing fleet

Barn Elms Rowing Club unveiled six new Explore Rowing boats on Sunday, at a boat-naming ceremony on the banks of the River Thames.

Barn Elms received over £12,500 in Explore Rowing funding to purchase a fleet of brand new, stable boats for use in its Learn to Row courses.

The naming ceremony saw the club’s brand new double sculls, quads, and coastal singles lined up on the river bank, in front of an excitable crowd of club members and local residents.

Barn Elms has already begun to offer Learn to Row courses for adults and juniors, and plans on hosting ‘a variety of new activities which will range from social rowing events to personal challenges, summer heads to tours.’

‘At the courses and sessions there is a great opportunity to meet new people of the same age and ability as well as learning from those who are more experienced,’ junior rower Florence Smart says on the Barn Elms Rowing Club website.

‘Barn Elms is a great place for all ages to learn to row, learn new techniques or take rowing that bit further.’
