Volunteers needed for Cleaner Thames Challenge

The River Thames, Hammersmith Bridge

Environmental charity Thames21 is searching for volunteers ahead of the Cleaner Thames Challenge on September 16-17.

Together with footwear brand Teva, Thames21 aims to clean two of the dirtiest sections of the River Thames – on the South bank next to Kew Bridge, and at the Isle of Dogs, both in London.

Over 100 volunteers of all ages are expected to turn out for the event, which Teva hopes will make ‘their local waterways a more enjoyable place to work, play, and live.’

Volunteers should congregate at Newcastle Draw Dock (E14 3BW) at 9.30am on Friday 16 September for the Isle of Dogs clean-up, and on Bush Road (TW9 3AN) at 12.30pm, Saturday 17 September for the Kew Bridge clean-up.

The charity will proved safety boots for adults (children must bring their own protective footwear), gloves, and socks.
