Nominate an Olympic torch-bearer

Lloyds TSB is searching for people who have made a difference in the rowing community to help carry the Olympic Flame in the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.

The 2012 Torch Relay begins at Land’s End on 19 May 2012, before travelling thousands of miles across the UK to bring the spirit of sport and the Olympics to communities around the country.

Lloyds TSB is inviting members of the public to nominate someone special in their sport to take part in this once in a lifetime event, with nominations open until 12 September 2011.

This could be the coach who gets the best out of you on the water whatever the weather, the team captain who keeps your club on the map, or the volunteer who keeps the boathouse clean and never stops smiling.

Gary Spencer from Kent, for example, has nominated Paul Spencer because “Paul started as a novice single Sculler at the age of 14, he has progressed to become British Junior 17 Single scull Champion for 2011, and Bronze medallist at the National school Championships 2011. Paul has trained relentlessly during this period, as well as introducing rowing to his school, to enable his peers to get an introduction to rowing. His dedication, drive, and determination to his sport in our opinion makes him a great candidate to have the honour to bare [sic] the Olympic Flame.”

If you know someone like Paul who is dedicated to furthering our sport, help them claim this once in a lifetime opportunity to carry the Olympic Flame by nominating at www.lloydstsb.com/carrytheflame
