North West County Indoor Rowing Finals

Over 2500 young people participated from Secondary Schools across the North West in the County Indoor Rowing Finals.

Students participated in both individual and relay events at each of the four County Finals. Heats and finals were offered where possible to add that extra challenge for the aspiring young rowers.

Cheshire County Finals

This final was hosted by the Grange School, Hartford and attended by 70 young people in years 9 to 11. The event, held on a Saturday, enabled many parents to watch on and provide plenty of support. The School Sports Partnership (SSP) teams were selected from the local intra/inter school events, with the top five rowers from each SSP selected to race at the finals. The right balance of fun and competitive rowing brought out many great performances.

Greater Manchester County Finals

Close to 300 young people, from years 7 to 11, took part in the Greater Manchester County Finals. The event now in its second year took place at the Robin arena in Wigan. It was most encouraging to see a large number of teams from the Rochdale Schools turn out for the finals.

Staffordshire County Finals

A small but highly competitive event with approximately twenty year 9 students fighting it out to become County winners. The event was hosted by the Michelin Sport Center in Stoke On Trent.

Merseyside County Finals

The last of the four County Indoor Rowing Finals took place in Merseyside on the 29 March in Liverpool. Held at St Margaret’s School, 50 young rowers participated from years 9 to 11. Mersey RC even took a boat down to the event to show what equipment is used when rowing on the water.

Results from all the County Finals can be found on the RowLog website.
