Young Rower Nominated for Inspirational Achiever Award

St Peter’s High School pupil, Matthew Fair, was recently nominated in the Inspirational Achiever category of the Sentinel/City of Stoke-on-Trent Sports Personality of the Year awards.

Matthew is a keen young rowing member from Trentham Boat Club and enjoyed a successful 2010 on the water, despite suffering from a condition which leaves him with painful migraines when exposed to bright light. Whilst managing to train four times a week, Matthew also helps to care for his 18-year-old brother Jonathan, who suffers from severe learning difficulties.

Congratulations to Matthew on his nomination and in particular his successful £15,000 application to the Youth Opportunities Fund to buy five new boats for Trentham.
