Bideford Reds Regatta
Around 40 juniors were in action last weekend last weekend at the Bideford Reds Junior Regatta and which marked the culmination of an imitative to introduce Year 7 students into the sport.
The majority of the juniors were recruited with the assistance of PE Teacher Darren Palmer at Bideford College and have been through a comprehensive Dry and Wet Start training sessions at the Reds with the considerable help of a number of parents who have assisted the clubs coaches in getting the youngsters up to a standard which has enabled them to participate at Saturday’s event.
The event consisted of a number of elimination heats with the winners progressing through to the final and the other crews racing off in a series of reprecharges to secure a place in the main final. The four boat final was a closely fought affair with just 2 foot separating the leading crews as they crossed the finishing line.
It is hoped that the juniors will now go on and represent the Reds at a number on winter Head Races and local indoor rowing competitions

Silver Medal:
Jessica Cox, Abby Jones, Jasmin Turner, Adam Crowther and James Williams (cox)
Bronze Medal:
Millie Sutherland, Alfie Leitch, Nicholas Wilson, Miles Lemer and Drew Mackensie (cox)
