Liverpool Schools Rowing Association 3rd Indoor rowing event

On June 22nd 2009, John Moores University hosted the third indoor event organised by the Liverpool Schools Rowing Association.

The event formed part of the North Liverpool Schools Year 9 Sports Challenge. Just under 150 young people from 6 schools took part in the event, with nearly 100 girls racing and 45 boys completing on the day. Each rower got to race twice over four minutes and in a team relay race.

The fastest boy on the day was Nick Isherwood from North Liverpool Academy with a distance of 1010 meters. The fastest girl on the day was Leanne Wroe from Broughton Hall High School with a distance of 895 metres.

The full results can be found here.

Moving into next year the LSRA is looking to secure funding to employ a full time coach to continue its successful work in the City, which over the last two years has seen 15 secondary schools get a taster of the sport of rowing, both on and off the water.
