An Oarsome Performance!

The first ever Cotswold Schools Indoor Championships has taken place to Kingshill School, Cirencester.

Crews made up of rowers from years 7, 8, and 9 thrashed it out in a tournament organises be the Amateur Rowing Association supported by Waterrower who provided six rowing machines for the occasion, and the local Schools Competition Manager.

Competitors raced as individuals and also as part of a relay team. The machines were linked via a computer and the race progress was projected onto a screen for all to see.

Will Hunt from Farmor’s School took gold for the best year 9, Alice Peachey took the gold for the year 8 category and Luke Newman from Kingshill won gold in the year 7 group.

Overall Farmor’s School put in the best performance and are now the proud trophy holders…..at least until next year!

Students from all competing schools have thoroughtly enjoyed learning to row on teh water rower machines during the last term, as part of the new Sport Unlimited Program. They can’t wait to take to the water next term to try the sport for real with the newly formed Cotswold Rowing Club, in the Cotswold Water Park.
