74th North of England Head of the River Race

The 74th North of England Head of the River Race took place on Saturday 14 March on the River Dee at Chester.  The event is hosted by Royal Chester Rowing Club and this year entries were swelled by additional University crews competing in the BUCS Championship.

A clear fine day with a testing breeze and a strong ebb tide for Division 2 produced some excellent racing.  Agecroft rowing club stormed to their 5th successive head victory, putting down a marker for the Jackson Trophy at the forthcoming Tideway Head.
