Confirmation of Siemens sponsorship

GB Rowing and Siemens plc have confirmed recent press reports that Siemens has optioned a clause in its 2006 sponsorship agreement with GB Rowing and will sponsor all Olympic and Paralympic class boats in the GB senior squad from February 2009 onwards until end 2012.

Andreas J Goss, chief executive, Siemens plc: “Our partnership with GB Rowing has already proved a great success – as well as giving us some
inspirational medal-winning moments. We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the GB Rowing team to support rowing and to promote our brand in the UK.  As High Performance Partner to the sport, activating this option in our existing agreement gives us even more scope to work together through to 2012”.

GB Rowing, Performance Director David Tanner CBE said:  “It is a great boost to our sport that Siemens has taken up the option to sponsor all the Olympic class boats. They have already made a huge contribution to GB Rowing and they are excellent sponsors. There are significant synergies between the two organisations which allow us to work to mutual benefit.

“GB Rowing is grateful to Camelot for its past support and has enjoyed working with Camelot over the past two Olympiads. The Siemens sponsorship,
covering all Olympic and Paralympic boat classes, reflects a new era and greater strength in depth for GB Rowing, which has just enjoyed its best
Olympic Games in the past 100 years, winning six medals – two of them gold”.
