World Fire Fighter Games 2008
Liverpool will be hosting the 10th World Fire fighter games this summer starting on the 24th August and running to the 3rd September. Its anticipated that over 5000 competitors will be taking part in 62 events, including Indoor Rowing and a sprint regatta on the Queen Docks in the City.
Mersey RC will be hosting the Regatta and will be providing boats for the event to competitors from around the world, in a 500 meter sprint event for two classes (Beginner or Championship) both for males and females but also a mixed class. Championship events will be held in Singles, Doubles and Coxed Fours. Beginner races will be held in restricted Singles and Coxed Fours.
The regatta will be run on 31st August at the Queens Dock in Liverpool, with a practice day on the Saturday for crews to polish off their skills for the event.
The Indoor rowing event will be taking place on Tuesday 26th August at the New Liverpool Echo Arena in the Kings Dock in Liverpool. Both heavyweight and lightweight classes will be available, as well as age classifications and all races are over 2000 meters. The Individual event will be followed by a relay event for team of four to compete over 5000 meters.
