The aim of the trials is to select a regional junior team to compete at the Junior inter-regional regatta in April. The event was hosted by Dart Totnes Rowing Club and involved 60 juniors from seven clubs, competing over three divisions in various events from J14 up to J16. With rain and strong winds during the week leading up to the event, it had been touch and go whether it would go ahead. However, by Saturday the wind had died down and with the incoming tide slowing any flood water on the river conditions were relatively calm. ADVERT There were wins for five different clubs across the various categories. Standout performances came from the Bideford Reds J16 quad who won the first division, and the J16 double from Dart Totnes who won the second division. Particularly impressive were the Dart Totnes J15 quad who won division three in the fastest time recorded since the event was first run in 2004. Download results here. From here selections will be made for the regional team, who will travel to Nottingham to compete against the other 11 ARA regions in April.
