Poznan to host 2009 World Championships
Poznan in Poland, a World Cup Venue in 2004, has been named as the FISA (World Rowing Federation) Council choice to host the 2009 World Championships.

The FISA Council, meeting in Munich during the 2005 BearingPoint World Cup this weekend, selected the Polish city.
The FISA Congress will have the opportunity to ratify this decision through a vote on September 5 in Gifu, Japan.
Poznan and Amsterdam had both previously presented their bids to FISA for the event.
The Council has also announced that Gainesville, USA, and Brandenburg, Germany, are their preferred venues for the 2009 World Junior and 2008 World U23 Championships.
FISA also yesterday annouced that the three World Cups next year will be in Munich (26-28 May), Poznan (16-18 June) and Lucerne (7-9 July).
