Forty-eight athletes have been selected to represent Great Britain at World Rowing Championships Shanghai 21-28 Sept 2025. The squad comprises crews who have been well-established this season as well as some new combinations, all looking to give it their all, in predicted soaring temperatures, at the Shanghai Water Sports Centre.

Louise Kingsley, British Rowing Director of Performance said: “We have had a strong start to the LA cycle topping the medal table at the European Rowing Championships and winning the overall World Rowing Cup, but now we’re at the business end of the season and expect to meet some fierce competition in China as we face crews from across the world.

“Lining up in Shanghai, we have some unchanged crews who have produced impressive results this year. We also have some new combinations, where we are welcoming athletes back into the squad including those who have been away at University. We’re looking forward to seeing how they all perform at the Shanghai Water Sports Centre.”

Lauren Henry will be back in the Women’s single sculls (W1x). Lauren has produced some stand-out performances in this boat class this season, winning at the European Championships and both World Rowing Cups. Also back in the PR1 Men’s single sculls (PR1 M1x) is Benjamin Pritchard, in his first race since he achieved a World Best Time at the 2025 European Rowing Championships. Completing the single sculls line up is Tokyo 2020 silver medallist, Tom Barras, back in the Men’s single sculls (M1x) for the second time this season.

Full of confidence, having topped the podium at the European Championships and World Rowing Cup Lucerne are the unchanged Men’s quadruple sculls (M4x) of Cedol Dafydd, Callum Dixon, Matt Haywood and Rory Harris.

Returning European Champions and World Rowing Cup Varese winners are the Men’s eight (M8+) of Will Stewart, Archie Drummond, David Bewicke-Copley, Fergus Woolnough, Miles Beeson, Sam Nunn, Matt Aldridge, Matt Rowe and cox, Will Denegri.

Completing the men’s squad are three new crew combinations. The Men’s four (M4-) sees three returners, fresh from their Cambridge University Boat Race win, James Robson, Douwe de Graaf and George Bourne join Dan Graham. The Men’s pair (M2-) will be James Vogel and Harry Geffen, while the Men’s double sculls (M2x) is Aidan Thompson and Tobias Schröder.

The Women’s quadruple sculls (W4x) sees the return of Paris 2024 Olympic Champion Hannah Scott along with Sarah McKay, Olympic Champion Lola Anderson and Olympic bronze medallist Becky Wilde. The Women’s double sculls (W2x) is an all Warrington combination of Lucy Glover and Cam Nyland.

The new Women’s four (W4-), Lauren Irwin, Eve Stewart, Heidi Long and Megan Slabbert will once again double up in the Women’s eight (W8+) joining Eleanor Brinkhoff, Juliette Perry, Amelia Standing, Martha Birtles and cox, Jack Tottem. GB’s Women’s eight were crowned European Champions and won the Varese world cup in 2025.

Lizzie Witt and Jade Lindo complete the women’s squad line up, racing in the Women’s pair (W2-).

Racing for the first time this cycle are Paris 2024 Paralympic Champions in the PR3 mixed coxed four (PR3 Mix4+), Frankie Allen, Giedre Rakauskaite, Ed Fuller and Josh O’Brien who are joined by new cox, Tom Bryce, a three-time World Rowing Champion at U23 level. Finally, Paralympic silver medallists Sam Murray and Annie Caddick will race the PR3 mixed double sculls (PR3 Mix 2x).

Running from 21-28 September the World Rowing Championships will be live streamed on WorldRowing.com. You can also follow the GB Rowing Team instagram for daily updates from China.
