Matt started rowing when he was 12-years-old after coaches from his local rowing club came into school to run a competition.
A few years after he started, Matt’s friends would ask if he would go to the Olympics one day and he would joke with them saying yes with no real intentions, thinking of rowing as a hobby and never believing it could go any further than that.
It wasn’t until he joined the GB Rowing Start program at the age of 17 that the dream of the Olympics started to feel more like a reality. Matt joined the GB senior squad in 2021 and helped qualify the men’s quad for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
When he finishes his career in rowing he wants to travel and see as much of the world as possible.
