Coastal Barbarians have a day to remember at Welsh Offshore Championships
Saundersfoot puts on a show for the first instalment of the Four Nations Enduro Racing series
Coastal Barbarians dominated proceedings at the Welsh Offshore Championships.
The event in Saundersfoot was also the first of four races for the Four Nations Enduro Racing Series. This national series of coastal sculling competitions offers prizes for overall winners – in both Beach Sprint and Endurance formats.
The competitions are organised by British Rowing, Scottish Rowing, Welsh Rowing and Jersey Rowing Club.
Swift Racing UK are supporting the entire Series with boats and equipment.
Coastal Barbarians took victory across three events on the day, winning the CO2x, the CO4x+, and the CMix4x+. Jon Osborn and Tony Burrows kicked off the day in fine fashion in the Double before jumping into the Quad with Tim Fenemore, Ricky Rouille, and Cox Andi Davies of Dolphin.
The club were also silver medallists in the CW2x after a cracking row from Tabitha McConnell and Ellen Pilcher saw them place second behind Arklow’s Mary Ann Kent and Ella Cialis.
Shanklin Sandown were never far away from the podium. Bass Andre won the CWx, nearly two minutes ahead of Arklow’s Mary Ann Kent. Just 35 seconds ahead of
Fishguard And Goodwick Jemima RC’s Kate Evans.
Andre would also take silver in the CO1x behind Bradford RC’s Edwin Van Lopik. The two would then team up to win the CMix2x.
It was a kaleidoscope of colour that won the CW4x+. Bryony Jones, Kate Evans, Mary Ann Kent, Alla Ciallis, and Cox Kraig Murley representing Llanion Warriors, Fishguard And Goodwick Jemima RC. And Arklow RC. A Coastal Barabarians/Dolphin composite were once again amongst the medals as they took silver.
Wisemans Bridge RC’s Ffion Morris won the U16 CJW1x.

“It’s fantastic to see racing get underway in Wales,” said Olympic Beach Sprint Head Coach Tom Pattichis.
“The Four Nations series is a great way for British Rowing, Scottish Rowing, and Welsh Rowing to come together and support the development of our athletes from across the British Isles. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next three rounds of the Enduro Racing Series have to offer as well the always competitive Beach Sprint racing.”
