The Clean Water Sports Alliance, comprising 11 Water Sport National Governing Bodies (NGBs), including British Rowing, won the British Association of Sustainability in Sport ‘Collaborations that Deliver Impact’ award. The award was announced during a ceremony at the All England Lawn Tennis Club on 25 November.

The Alliance represents 450,000 members, athletes, and water users who are impacted by poor water quality and pollution.

Rachel Dulai, British Rowing Sustainability Lead was icredibly proud of the Alliance’s efforts. “British Rowing, as a founder member of the Clean Water Sports Alliance, is delighted to be part of the winning team,” said Rachel.

“This is a great collaboration with the sports really building on each others’ strengths in order to deliver for their sports and the environment – especially regarding cleaning up our rivers. Together we have far greater impact than separately and stakeholders involved in the water sector are really starting to listen!”

British Rowing affiliated club, Fulham Reach Boat Club, won the Community Impact Award. The timing of this award couldn’t have been better. “Winning the BASIS Community Impact Award is recognition not just of what we’ve achieved, but of the community behind it – our volunteers, young people, partners, and supporters who make this work possible,” said Fulham Reach BC CEO Adam Freeman-Pask.

The very next day, Fulham Reach Boat Club hosted an Electric Boat and Water Testing Demo Day, as part of their charity’s commitment to open learning and shared innovation.  They welcomed more than 20 people from across rowing and the wider marine sector to test four electric boats, explore charging solutions and sharing practical insights.

“Hosting this event the day after winning the BASIS Community Impact Award felt incredibly fitting. It reflects our belief that innovation must be open and accessible. By testing technology together –  the good and the challenging – we give every club on the river a better chance to make informed, confident transitions to sustainable equipment,” explained Adam.
