Student athletes to represent GB at the 2025 World University Games, Rhine-Ruhr

Twenty-six student athletes and 7 support staff have been selected to race at the World University Games taking place at Duisburg, Germany from 25-27 July 2025

The World University Games is one of the biggest sporting events in the world with over 10,000 students from 150 countries competing in a multi-sport games across the Rhine-Ruhr valley in Germany. The rowing team is an exciting group of student athletes from across the country, with a mix of seasoned international athletes, including World Cup athletes and U23 medallists and those earning international vests for the first time.

Lead coach, Dan Harris said: “The World University Games is a fantastic event and one that I know our student athletes will thoroughly enjoy. We have a very strong team, capable of challenging for podiums and medals so we’re excited to see what they can deliver against the best student athletes in the world. We also have a fantastic team of coaches from some of the best University programmes in the country, so I’m confident in what we can deliver with the athletes in this team!”

Head coach for the Olympic Pathway, Pete Sheppard said: “We are extremely grateful to all the Universities and clubs who have supported our athletes throughout a demanding trials process to earn their place on the team. Without their support we wouldn’t have the calibre of team and British Rowing would like to thank them for their support.”
