British Rowing has created two new tailored packages to help affiliated university rowing clubs welcome more students into the sport – and keep them rowing throughout their time at university.

This initiative will give clubs access to funding, resources and training designed to strengthen how they deliver Learn to Row programmes and retain their members.

What packages are available?

Option 1: Join the national Learn to Row scheme

University clubs can access grants, the national learn to row booking system, a range of training, delivery resources, webinars and paid for marketing.

This support package aims to:

  • Help clubs deliver effective Learn to Row programmes for the 2025/26 intake.
  • Attract new students into rowing over other sports.
  • Build capacity and generate income for long-term development.
Option 2: Learn to Row – University and Further Education support

This option focuses on workforce development, offering funded coach and committee training plus a welcome grant to improve student experiences, Clubs can also access webinars, online resources, and ongoing staff support.

This support package will help clubs:

  • Build a coaching workforce to help rowers progress further in the sport.
  • Be able to offer a more effective club learn to row programme for ‘new’ to rowing students.
  • Improve accessibility and capacity for university clubs to access qualified coaches.
