Four Nations Coastal Sculling Series: Coming to a beach near you in 2026

British Rowing, Scottish Rowing, Welsh Rowing and Jersey Rowing Club are once again coming together to host the ultimate coastal rowing challenge – supported by Swift Racing UK

For the third year running, points earned in each of the four nations’ championship events will contribute towards a larger competition: the Four Nations Coastal Sculling Series.

From April to September we’ll see established names and new challengers go head to head for the Four Nations trophies. Points are awarded in order of rankings at each Championships, but a consistent performance across all four events can overtake first place in one or two. Each round, scores are tallied on a live leaderboard on the British Rowing website.

Last year six individuals raced to victory over four rounds of racing across two disciplines of coastal rowing. Endurance has an overall Women’s and Men’s Champion, whilst Beach Sprints has both Senior and Junior Men’s and Women’s trophies up for grabs.

Trophies will be presented at the British Rowing Beach Sprint Championships, which will take place from 4 – 6 September 2026 in Bournemouth.

Swift Racing UK will once again be supporting the entire series with boats and equipment.

Last year’s results

The Endurance competition

It was Sefi Ormston of Tynemouth and Whitby Rowing Clubs  who topped the women’s endurance leaderboard. Sefi consistently performed highly across all four rounds, earning her the overall total and title of Women’s Endurance Champion. Sefi’s feat was made all the more impressive in that she raced in the junior category throughout the four rounds of competition, finishing with a total of 46 points ahead of McKenna Simpson (Tynemouth RC) with 43 and Andrea Davies (Dolphin RC) with 37.

Marc Wilson of Whitby CRC took the men’s overall Endurance trophy after winning the English Coastal Championships in Whitby and racing in every other round, often in multiple boat categories.

The Beach Sprints competition

GB Beach Sprint Team rower Laura Mckenzie dominated all rounds of the Senior Women’s competition, whilst Olivia Hodgson ultimately came out on top of the Junior Women after battling Zara Gray through the rounds. For the Men, it was 2025 European Champion James Cox who took the title, with Sol Chamberlain-Hyde both winning the Junior Men’s trophy and finishing fifth in the senior men’s rankings.

This year’s competition

This year’s racing will kick off in April at the Welsh Junior Beach Sprint Championships, held in Colwyn Bay. Endurance racing will take place for the first time on 20 June at the Welsh Coastal Championships in Saundersfoot. See the full table of events below!
