Everything you need to know for your club to join the Great British Rowing Weekend 2025
From 11-12 October 2025, clubs around the country will be opening their doors to their local communities, giving everyone a chance to try rowing!

Take part in The Great British Rowing Weekend
The Great British Rowing Weekend is a great opportunity to welcome local communities down to your clubs and showcase what’s so incredible about our sport. Last year clubs ran taster sessions, bbqs, erg competitions and more – with many give-it-a-goers returning to become club members.
Any club that signs up to the Great British Rowing Weekend will get:Â
- A paid-for marketing campaign in their area to let their local community know about opportunities at their club!
- A pack of promotional materials, including bunting, badges to give away, lanyards for volunteers and more
- Access to our national booking system to host their taster sessions
- Support from our Communities Team, including session plans
Clubs also have the opportunity to apply for grants up to £2,000 to host follow-on Learn to Row courses – applications open now until October!
What is the British Rowing Learn to Row Support Grant?
The grant is for clubs who want to host Learn to Row courses on our new national Learn to Row booking website to promote their courses.
Clubs will receive upfront grants to help host Learn to Row courses at a lower price. The grants will cover costs that usually have to be included in a normal course fee – such as coaching, safety launch petrol costs, turning the club lights on, additional equipment – or even costs towards retention.
Clubs can apply for:
- £1,000 for helping up to 25 new participants on courses priced at £99 or less
- £2,000 for up to 50 or over participants on courses priced at £99 or less
- Clubs will keep all revenue from courses, excluding the cost of a British Rowing Learn to Row membership (£40) for all course participants, which keeps new rowers insured and the club protected.
On top of this, clubs will also receive a package of exclusive worth over £4,000, including:
- A range of coach training opportunities – including free club places on a Learn to Row Helper course and new guidance on coaching beginners as a cox
- Access to our Learn to Row Resources Hub
- Learn to Row handbooks – posted to the club to use on your courses for your participants to use
- A national paid-for marketing campaign, specifically targeting people in their local areas who want to learn to row
- Best practice club support – including club webinars, community team staff support, practical resources, Learn to Row Guides, Rower Development Guide
