History will be made at the Schleswig-Holstein Netz Cup from 8-10 August as Great Britain will race a women’s quadruple sculls for the first time in the event’s 25 year history.

The women’s quadruple sculls will join a men’s eight racing ‘the toughest rowing race in the World’, a 12.7km route on the Kiel Canal in Rendsburg, Germany.

Coached by GB Rowing Team’s Head Coach – Olympic Pathway, Pete Sheppard and Oxford Brookes University’s Sam Sheppard, the two crews will also take on the Ergo Cup, which takes place on Friday evening and gives the winners the first chance to choose the best starting position from their point of view for Sunday’s 12.7km race and the Rowing Sprint Cup which is a short sprint over 350 metres taking place on Saturday afternoon in the dock area in Rendsburg.

Selected for the women’s quadruple sculls are Poppy Baker, fresh from her 2025 World Rowing U23 Championship gold medal win in Poznan and GB Rowing Team’s Freya Keto. They are joined by Rebekah Court, who raced in the A final of the women’s double sculls at the recent World University Games and Molesey BC’s Heloise Wormleighton.

The Men’s eight includes Max Mills & cox Beatrice Argyle who won gold medals at the 2025 World University Games in the men’s & women’s eight respectively, and Toby Lassen & Felix Rawlinson, bronze medal winners in the Men’s pair also at the 2025 World University Games. Making up the rest of the crew are Robbie Prosser, Kai Schlottmann, Jonathon Cameron, George Reed and Levin Graf.

Pete Sheppard, GB Rowing Team’s Head Coach for the Olympic Pathway said: “The race, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2025, is unique and provides athletes a physical challenge they won’t face anywhere else in the rowing world. The GB athletes have in front of them a racing experience opportunity that will challenge them both physically and mentally.

“For the W4x to be part of the first women’s race on the Kiel Canal in Rendsburg is very exciting. Any racing opportunity for developing athletes helps them to understand themselves better as a high performing athlete. We are excited as a GB team to support the race organisers and those that support and fund the race to show our sport differently over the 12.7km course.”
