Beach Sprint rowing is growing from strength to strength in the UK. As the Four Nations Coastal Sculling Series approaches its final event, eyes are turning to the National Championships to see GB Beach Sprint Team members competing against established names in the coastal scene.
Every year brings newcomers and fresh competition from throughout the UK. This year, competing at the Championships is more flexible than ever, with the addition of Mixed Challenge Quads.
The end of each day will see the inaugural Mixed Challenge Quads take to the water. You can enter a mixed quad (£125 per crew), or enter for a rowing seat in a crew (£35 per seat). ‘Seat entries’ will be drawn into quads on the day, with additional seat entries offered to competitors on the day (provided they aren’t full already)!
What are Beach Sprints?
After an initial time trial, beach sprints are knockout, one-on-one races – with quarter finals, semi finals and an A and B Final to determine the final medal positions happening in quick succession. A bad turn or a rogue wave could end your quest for gold, and the combination of skill and strength required in tough conditions means that it’s not always the best, or strongest rower who has the advantage.
