Tokyo 2020 and beyond

After Rio 2016, the XXXII Olympiad will begin, concluding at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

To get you in the mood, here’s a quick run down on what to expect from Tokyo 2020:

  • The Olympic Games will be held between Friday, 24 July – Sunday, 9 August 2020 and the Paralympic Games between Tuesday, 25 August – Sunday 6 September 2020.
  • The rowing will take place in the Sea Forest Waterway, in Tokyo Bay (see above).
  • Tokyo last hosted the Games in 1964 when Great Britain won silver in the Men’s coxless four (M4-).
  • It is over 5,900 miles from London to Tokyo.

Toyko to London

  • Tokyo is the capital of Japan and has a population of over 13 million.
