Molesey Boat Club – Coaching Intern

Reporting to: Junior Head Coach & Head Coach

Summary:
The coaching intern will primarily work with the Junior Head Coach and Head Coach, working with junior and senior athletes on beginner pathways. Depending on performance and experience there may be opportunities to work with more experienced crews preparing for high-level domestic races including Henley Royal Regatta

Remuneration:
£10-14k depending on experience

Responsibilities:

  • Coaching of J14-15 age groups:
  • Implement club programme with J14-15 age groups
  • Outing planning, coordination of crews and selection
  • Proactively communicate with parents and deal with inbound queries in a timely fashion
  • Minor boat maintenance and rigging
  •  Creating a fun, inclusive, but high performance ethos
  •  Adult beginner coaching responsibilities
  • Develop a small group of athletes who have completed at least one year of rowing that have high performance potential, focusing principally on sculling, alongside their crew rowing commitments at MBC or University of Surrey, targeting participation in GBRT trials and GBRT beginners training camps at Nottingham with a view to potential U23 selection in years 2+
  • Ensure that the club’s Safeguarding and Safety policies are adhered to whilst leading coached sessions.
  • Follow the GBRT technical model and What It Takes To Win Model (WITTW)

Qualifications:

  • Experience of working in a club/university/school programme.
  • Coaching qualification (minimum: UKCC Level 2 or international equivalent).
  • Full driving licence (preferably with the ability to tow trailers).
  • RYA Powerboat Level 2 or international equivalent (desirable)
  • Educated to Degree level (desirable)
