Mansfield College Boat Club – Women’s – Side Coach

Mansfield College Boat Club is looking to appoint a women’s-side coach for the academic year 2022/3, with the potential to continue coaching in subsequent years. We’re a friendly and inclusive club with 2-3 boats on either side spanning a range of rowing experience – from our Michaelmas novices to our dedicated senior returners, some of whom are rowing at university level. We pride ourselves on our enthusiasm, commitment and team spirit, which makes for a strong squad both on and off the water. We’re looking for a coach that matches this positive ethos, that will work closely with our women’s captains through our side-specific coaching
model, and that can help us develop a cohesive, skilled crew here at MCBC.

Coaching requirements:

  • Coach 6-7 sessions a week, including 3 weekday morning outings, for Michaelmas through Trinity term 2022/3: mostly bank riding outings and some coached ergs / tanks.
  • Develop a training plan for each term and vacation.
  • Help our captains select crews for Torpids and Eights fairly and transparently.
  • Broad coaching abilities: we’re looking for a coach who can offer accurate, constructive feedback and support for our returning rowers and coxes, as well as teach our novices to row from scratch at a high standard.

We’re looking for someone:

  • With a positive, personable approach to coaching.
  • With experience coaching novice and senior rowers and coxes (or someone who has coxed before)
  • Able to demonstrate consistent commitment to the club.
  • Familiar with bumps-style racing.
  • Potentially available for Easter and summer training camps.

Interested? Introduce yourself to our women’s captain Ruby Mullin([email protected]) with a CV and we’ll be in touch.

Salary: Competitive rates of pay available and negotiable based on experience

Application Dates: From Friday 15th July 2022 to Friday 12th August 2022
