GROW Coach – In Partnership with Warrington Youth Rowing

Are you a coach who is passionate about changing the lives of young people in your community, and ready to take on a new challenge? In partnership with Warrington Youth Rowing, British Rowing is looking for an outstanding coach to further embed rowing into school partnerships in the area.

📣A bit about the role

The role provides the opportunity to work across all Warrington Youth Rowing programmes in the North West region, along with a broader range of British Rowing programmes. You will be supported to develop your knowledge of coaching, to be able to deliver great experiences through schools, and at the host rowing clubs. You will be instrumental in helping us change the face of rowing to truly make it everyone’s sport.

You will work closely with the CEO of Warrington Youth Rowing to identify where programmes need additional support to develop, and support teaching staff to gain a better understanding of the sport as well.

👋 A bit about you

First and foremost, you should really understand the local community and the challenges young people are facing. You will need to be an experienced coach, but we will mentor and guide you to understand the role so you can deliver in a challenging but exciting role. You should be skilled in building strong working relationships, and work well both independently and as part of a wider team.

Our passion is rowing. We are the governing body for rowing, responsible for supporting grassroots rowing in England and getting the GB Rowing Team ready for the Olympics, Paralympics, and other international competitions.

We are a membership organisation with over 30,000 individual members and we are looking to support over 550 affiliated clubs and 230 affiliated events. We cover all types of rowing whether it’s on the river or lake, on the sea or in the gym (on a rowing machine) and so a key aim is provide high quality service to all parts of the rowing community.

You will be part of the Learning, Education and Development team at British Rowing, within the newly established Pathways Directorate. We will support you to gain new and unique experiences to develop your skills as a coach both within your role, and to expand your career prospects for the future.

Type: Employed, fixed term: September 2023 to July 2024

Location: Home based, with travel to host clubs and schools in the North West region

Anti-Doping: The post-holder is expected to be fully conversant with the core requirements of the WADA Anti-Doping Code and its requirement on coaches and Team Support personnel to set a good personal example in this field. When directly working with athletes the post-holder has a responsibility to inform them appropriately of the Code’s application to them and to influence them in following a ‘drug-free’ culture.

Salary: £13,520 (£27,040 FTE) plus expenses
