British Rowing – Satellite Coach (South West)

We’re seeking an ambitious coach, passionate about teamwork and long-term athlete development.

The Role

British Rowing’s aim is to create an Olympic Pathway that’s open, accessible and empowers anyone with the potential to row for Great Britain, with the Satellite Coach playing a key role within that Pathway. In this role, you will work closely between the Performance Development Academy (based in Bath) and supporting the development of rowing in Bristol.

In Bath, you will support the Performance Development Coaches to identify, recruit, and develop new athletes with future Olympic potential who might not otherwise enter the sport of rowing or excel within a traditional ‘mainstream’ rowing pathway. In Bristol, you will identify and support athletes with potential from schools and youth programmes in the Bristol area into local clubs and support them in developing these athletes.

More widely you’ll connect the Regional GB Performance Development Academy to the south west region. Driving Regional and Student Development Programmes, spotting promising athletes, supporting coach development, and partnering with Youth Rowing Outreach initiatives to unlock hidden rowing talent.

About you

We’re seeking an ambitious coach, passionate about teamwork and long-term athlete development.

You should have the experience and personal qualities to enable you to work within a high-performance rowing environment. Aspiring to work with clubs and coaches across the south west to create a hub of activity which enables individuals, who may not otherwise have the opportunity, to reach the very top of the sport.

You should have a passion for developing yourself and others, always striving to learn new things in your approach to athlete development. You should also have excellent communication and relationship management skills to bring the region together with the aim of supporting athletes to reach their goals.

About us

We are the national governing body for rowing, responsible for supporting the sport’s wider development in England and getting the GB Rowing Team ready for the Olympics and Paralympics.

We passionately believe in supporting and expanding the ambitions of rowers who show potential regardless of their background or circumstances, helping them to achieve their ambitions.
