British Rowing Junior Championships – OC Chair

Job Description

You’ll be helping us deliver one of the most important rowing events in the UK. Engaging our amazing clubs and junior members as well as their passionate supporters through a safe, inspiring and exciting British Rowing Junior Championships.

Your work will be to lead, oversee and deliver the British Rowing Junior Championships at either Holme Pierrepont Country Park, Nottingham or Strathclyde Country Park, Glasgow.

There’s a huge variety to this inspiring event role and so your work will be varied – this could include:

  • To lead and support a diverse Organising Committee and chair regular OC meetings
  • Support both volunteers and staff members involved
  • Make sure the event integrates with British Rowing’s strategy and support the junior pathway
  • Appoint new members when required
  • Represent the event on the British Rowing Events Committee

You’ll also work closely with the team at British Rowing who are there to help you make British Rowing Junior Championships enjoyable for everyone involved. As a key leader in one of the sport’s key events, you’ll also have an opportunity to shape our event strategy – helping come up with the ideas that will take our events to a new level.

👋 A bit about you

First and foremost, you’ll be an excellent team player. You’ll be as comfortable reading and understanding a budget as you will be working with our fantastic volunteers and staff. We need someone who understands rowing events, and what junior competitors, their friends and families and also sponsors want to see and experience.

You need to have a can-do attitude and be someone who will make things happen. You need to be creative, highly motivated and forward-thinking – someone who gets excited and inspired when they think about events.

🚣‍ A bit about us
