Auckland Grammar Rowing Club, New Zealand – Rowing Coach

Auckland Grammar Rowing Club is looking for coaches to assist with coaching U15, U16, U17 and U18 age groups starting as soon as possible. The successful candidates will work with the Master in Charge and the Head Coach and other age group coaches to develop a successful rowing programme.

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Have a valid work visa for NZ in case they aren’t a New Zealand national or resident.
  • Have previous experience in coaching rowing.
  • Coach 3 water sessions per week (5am – 7.30am).
  • Work with the Head Coach and other age group coaches to align with the general training schedule of the Club.
  • Be a role model to the students, by attending training on time and using appropriate language.
  • Build a professional coach-student relationship with the students.
  • Be open to discussion and feedback.
  • Select crews for training and racing.
  • Stay up to date with all Auckland Grammar School’s health and safety requirements.
  • Stay up to date with all New Zealand rowing regulations and training guidelines.
  • Accompany the club on their annual training camp (8-14 January 2024).
  • Accompany the rowers to regattas.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced coach looking for a new project. The successful candidate should be someone who will share the school’s vision and support all members in reaching their maximum potential.

About Auckland Grammar Rowing Club

Auckland Grammar Rowing Club is part of Auckland Grammar School. The Club is fully affiliated with the Auckland Rowing Association and with the Secondary Schools Rowing Association. The Club focuses exclusively on Secondary Schools Boys’ rowing and has currently 65 licensed rowers. The boathouse is located in Panmure with access to the Tamaki river. In addition to this, rowers have access to a fully equipped weights facility and an erg room at school for all on-land sessions.

Salary: Dependent on experience

Type: 3-5 sessions per week. Each session lasts 2 hours
