Team Durham Summer Camps

From Durham University Sports:

Team Durham are running sculling camps during August, structured to cater for varying ages and abilities. They will be delivered by the team’s experienced coaching staff who, in conjunction with Durham University Boat Club students, ensure that all of the participants are given the optimum opportunity to learn and develop whilst on the camp

The Junior Residential Camp running from 16th – 21st August, is aimed at involving leading performers from the current J14, J15 and J16 age groups, and provide them with training and skills to prepare for National Schools and GB Junior trials in the forthcoming years.

The Senior Performance Camp, 10th – 14th August, will cater for ages 17 upwards, and is aimed at those who interested in participating in GB Under 23 trials, the Northern Sculling Series, the Scullers Head or other larger Heads and Regattas in the 2009/10 season.

The thrid and final camp is Senior Club Camp, also running from 10th – 14th August, which also caters for ages 17 upwards, and offers more relaxed single sculling with shorter outings, as well as crew sculling on a number of the days.

The camps are run at Durham’s water training base at Newburn and from their land training base at Maiden Castle in Durham. Athletes are encouraged to bring their own equipment, although there are a number of sculling boats and blades which are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis. Coaches wishing to be involved in the camps are also welcome to attend and support their athletes.
