ENGLISH BEACH SPRINT REGATTA
EVENT OVERVIEW
The English Beach Sprint Regatta, takes place on Sunday 28th April at Bournemouth Beach (between Boscombe and Bournemouth Piers, directly in front of the ‘Toft Zig Zag’).
This is an open Beach Sprint event offering racing in the following categories Coastal Women’s 1x, Coastal Open 1x, Junior Coastal Women’s 1x, Junior Coastal Open 1x, Masters Coastal Women’s 1x, Masters Coastal Open 1x. For this event, Masters will be defined as any athlete over 40 years old on race day (April 28th 2024).
The event also forms part of the 2024 Four Nations Beach Sprint Championships.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE MADE USING THE ATHLETES OWN CLUB HUB ACCOUNT, UNLESS THE ENTRY IS BEING MADE BY A CLUB. THERE IS NO OPTION TO TRANSFER IF MADE UNDER THE WRONG NAME
FORMAT AND SCHEDULE
Racing will take place over a full Beach Sprint course, using a combination of processional time trial and two-lane side by side racing. Racing will only take place in Solos (coastal single sculls) in order to maximise the number of races for all those entering.
Registration will open at approximately 8am on Sunday 28th April, and racing will run until 5pm. Exact schedule, number of races and final format of racing will be dependent on the number of entries, weather conditions and other factors. A final schedule will be circulated a week prior to the regatta. The intention is for all open categories to race together and all women’s categories to race together, with medals for the highest placed Senior, Junior and Masters finisher within the Open and Women’s events.
Boats will be provided. The manufacturers used will be Filippi or Swift. While different manufacturer boats won’t be raced against each other, different categories may use different boat types, depending on number of entries within each category and the number of boats available.
Rowers should bring their own oars. A limited number of oars are available at a cost of £10 per set. If you have hired blades for the GB Beach Sprint Selection Trial, you do not have to select blade hire with your entry. Please email gbbeach@britishrowing to inform the organisers that you will continue to use the hired blades.
ELIGIBILITY
To race at the English Beach Sprint Regatta you must be a British Rowing member
To be eligible to enter a Junior category, rowers must be born no earlier than 1 September 2005 and no later than 31 August 2008
To be eligible to enter a Masters Category rowers must be 40 years or over on the day or the regatta.
The event is open to both experienced and those new to the Beach Sprint format. However, if an individual has not competed in a Beach Sprint event before they should strongly consider taking part in a training session prior to the event either at a GB Coastal Sculling Academy or via one of the Home Nations Beach Sprint Development programmes. We would advise against any new or very inexperienced scullers entering.
