July 28, 2021 Jobs Warwick Boat Club – Junior Coach Warwick Boat Club – Junior Coach Warwick Boat Club is seeking an experienced coach to lead our junior squad from 1st September 2021. The post holder will work on a self-employed basis for an initial 5 hours a week, with the potential to expand the training hours as the squad grows. They will be supported in this role by unpaid volunteers. Duties Develop the junior rowers’ skill and fitness on and off the water. Organise 2 junior sessions a week (16:00-18:00) for all junior members to attend. Develop proficiency in racing shells to attend regattas and head races over the year. Organise and lead 2 junior learn-to-row courses a year. Manage junior rowing email enquiries and keep a communications list for prospective members. Arrange for new members to join the rowing club in line with those leaving for university etc. Oversee racing and competition for the junior rowers. Act as main point of contact for parents/carers of junior members. Technical knowledge and communication Good watermanship and a demonstrable knowledge of rowing. Possess a good understanding of common sports injuries and injury prevention. Have a positive approach to junior rowing and developing junior technical abilities. Excite and enthuse junior rowers to enjoy the sport, developing long-term working relationships between coach, rowers, and parents. Specification Have or be working towards a UK level 2 coaching qualification. Have or be working towards an RYA level 2 powerboat qualification. Proven record rowing and coaching. Willing to undergo a DBS check. Up to date Safeguarding and First Aid certificates. Experience working with juniors. Pay Hours are negotiable and flexible but currently 4 hours training + 1 hour admin pay a week Please note, appointment to this role is subject to the successful applicant passing DBS check.
