University of Nottingham Sport – Head of Rowing

The University of Nottingham is investing significantly in it’s sporting infrastructure, with a £40m Sports Village and substantial investment in it’s coaching and development support for it’s 74 sports clubs and 125+ active teams. The University were also recently awarded The Sunday Times Good University Guide Sports University of the Year 2021.

University of Nottingham Boat Club is a hugely popular student-led club of over 120 active members across all ability levels. We pride ourselves on delivering the best possible rowing experience to every single athlete, no matter what ability, and helping them be the best they can be. In recent years, the club has achieved numerous BUCS Gold Medals and EUSA medals. UoNBC has a boathouse on a 9km stretch of the River Trent with exclusive access to an erg room and a premier fleet of Hudson and Wintech boats. We also have a storage facility and access to the National Water Sports Centre as well as state of the art S&C and other facilities at the David Ross Sports Village.

We are currently seeking a Head of Rowing for the upcoming 2022/23 season. We require an experienced head coach to lead the delivery of the programme in line with the UoN Vision for Sport that ensures sustained performance success and outstanding student experience across the wider club.

The contract period will be August 2022 – June 2023, within this contract period the Head of Rowing, required to hold a minimum a Level 2 coaching qualification or significant experience at a high level in both sweep and sculling disciplines, will deliver an innovative and effective Rowing programme to support the development at all levels within the club. The deliverer must also hold appropriate insurance.

The minimum hours of the contract is 650 (delivery) /200 (admin) over an approximate 35-week period, which will include coaching delivery, attendance at events, club development, recruitment and administration.
