The Gorse Boat Club, SCITT Programme

Whether you’re a recent graduate, or looking to transfer your skills and experience into a career in teaching, The Gorse Academies Trust is looking to recruit ambitious trainee teachers with a background in rowing. The GORSE Academies Trust is based in Leeds.

Through its OFSTED Outstanding rated SCITT programme, Gorse is building a team of exceptional teacher-coaches who want to bring their passion for rowing into a career in teaching. These teachers will be the backbone of The Gorse Boat Club, and Gorse are looking for the very best candidates to inspire their students and help them achieve at the highest level.

The Boat Club introduces pupils of The GORSE Academy Trust to rowing. Pupils at the 5 secondary academies take part in indoor rowing as part of their PE curriculum. The strongest rowers are then invited to join The Boat Club in on water training. Rowing is used as a vehicle to promote teamwork, tenacity and promote positive destinations for young people, whilst working towards competing at local and national events.

A candidate’s potential future employment within the Outstanding GORSE Academies Trust will be greatly supported by the impact they have on the programme in their year on the SCITT programme. Gorse will be looking for those candidates wishing to stay on at the Trust once they are qualified to continue to drive the programme forward.

GORSE SCITT is an outstanding provider of teacher training for all stages, Early Years, Primary, Secondary and Post-16. You can best get to know them by joining a day of school experience in one of the schools, which can be arranged. To find out more, visit https://gorsescitt.org.uk/
