Putney High School Boat Club – Rowing Coach

£22,095 – £25,596 pa

Required as soon as possible

Putney High School Boat Club is seeking a full-time senior squad coach, with the specific duty of running the J16 squad, as well as day-to-day Boat Club administration assisting the Head of Rowing with the organisation of timetables, trips, regattas and training camps. A proven track record as a coach for junior rowers, knowledge of the British Rowing reporting and entry systems, and the ability to safely operate a motor launch on the Tideway are all essential requirements.

In January 2016, the school opened its very own Boat Club, the first and only all-female Boat Club along the River Thames.  The Boat Club provides a state of the art training facility, housing our senior squad fleet of boats and multi-use gym space of Concept2 ergos, Rowperfects and Strength & Conditioning equipment. Part of the Girls’ Day School Trust group of schools, Putney High School is one of the UK’s leading schools, and has earned a reputation for excellence in sport across the School.

Our senior squads of Year 11 and Sixth Form students are an ambitious and enthusiastic group of athletes with a number of students that have GB Junior potential. The candidate will have the ability to work in a team with the other senior squad coaches and be willing to coach any senior squad crew as required by the Head of Rowing. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of coaching medal standard crews at a national level including the National Schools Regatta and will have experience of themselves as an athlete who has reached a very good national standard.

The role may require the coach to assist with a range of senior squad crews (1st and 2nd crews in J16 and J18) and will require the candidate to work harmoniously with the other senior coaches to achieve the best results for their crew and for the squad as a whole. The role will also require coaching support to the J14 and J15 squads during weekday curriculum rowing lessons, including working through school holidays and at weekends as required.

Salary is in accordance with the GDST national scale. Salary is dependent on experience and qualifications.
