Mossbourne Rowing Academy

Mossbourne Federation, working in partnership with London Youth Rowing (LYR), has been delivering rowing opportunities to pupils since 2010. Over 100 pupils from Mossbourne Community Academy (MCA) and Mossbourne Victoria Park Academy (MVPA) currently take part in regular rowing activities; lunchtime clubs start in Year 7 and water-based training begins in Year 8 during core PE lessons, in holidays and on weekends. Pupils at both schools have the opportunity to join racing squads from Year 9 onwards. Those who go on to attend Mossbourne SixthForm, located on the MCA campus, undertake an extensive performance orientated training programme designed to help Mossbourne rowers rise through the ranks and to row competitively against the country’s leading rowing schools.

Rowing is an important part of the culture of Mossbourne secondary schools. The Federation offers talented sports pupils the opportunity of transfer from their current school to Mossbourne Community Academy at the start ofYear 9, if they demonstrate an exceptional aptitude for rowing and wish to join the high-performance programme pathway. The Federation is proud to have triumphed where others have failed.
