Trafford Rowing Club – Head Junior Coach
Trafford Rowing Club is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Head Junior Coach, based in Sale, Manchester starting in the summer.
Trafford Rowing club is a small club (circa 80 juniors out of 170 members) but has high ambitions for the development of its junior squad. Trafford RC has a strong reputation for junior performance in the North West. All six entered crews finished 1st or 2nd in the recent JIRR NW Trials and in the last 12 months a number of crews have reached the top 10 at national competitions, including a bronze medal at the British Championships.
The junior programme has developed ambitious goals for the squad and this is an opportunity to build on the fantastic progress made to date and continue to develop the entire squad to its full potential.
This is an opportunity to be the Head coach for the junior squad for all ranges of ability.
Key responsibilities include:
● To continue to develop an existing Junior coaching programme for all abilities ensuring that all reach their potential and develop within the club. This will range from supporting recreational crews to continue to love the sport without competition, through to development of those who wish to compete at the highest level.
● Continue the development of a high performance coaching programme for the National Squad to build on great performance to date.
● Working with the assistant coach, implement a training programme that develops all new rowers in basic water skills to ensure they can row safely, have levels of competence, confidence and enjoy themselves.
● Working with the assistant coach, establish strong local links with schools and colleges to develop the pipeline of future rowers, including the identification of rowers and their development onto the development pathway.
● Manage and support the assistant coaches professional development.
Previous experience of coaching will be required along with a level 2 coaching qualification.
