External Selectors for British Rowing Selection Groups

As part of our mission to select the fastest crews and continue to deliver medal winning performances internationally, we’re seeking passionate and experienced individuals from within the rowing family to be part of the formal selection of Great Britain representative boats and crews at Senior (Olympic and Paralympic), U23 and U19 level.

As part of British Rowing’s new Selection Policy (found here), the External Selector will be one of three selectors in each selection group alongside the Nominated Coach and the Director of Performance (or their nominee). These new roles for External Selectors will work with British Rowing programmes and squads to ensure the fastest boats are selected in a transparent manner.

Through attendance at Selection Trials and Selection Group meetings (Virtual and in Person) the role of the External Selector will be to ensure that the process followed to form the crews adheres to the Selection Policy and that athletes are selected to represented Great Britain in a transparent manner and without conscious or unconscious bias.

Successful External Selectors will have knowledge of rowing at an international competitive level and have an ability to understand and apply policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain a high level of impartiality and discretion will also be essential.

The full job specification can be found here. To apply for this role, candidates should provide:

  • an up to date version of their curriculum vitae.
  • a brief cover letter (no more than one A4 page) outlining how they meet this job specification.
  • an indication of which programme/squads they have an interest to select for.

Applications should be sent to [email protected]  by 6 January 2021.

Interviews will be held (virtually) on Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14 January 2021.

This is a voluntary position. Expenses will be covered.

Application Dates: From Monday 14th December 2020 to Wednesday 6th January 2021
